Working with teens

” My daughter says the sessions are helping her a lot, so I really greatly appreciate this.”

Adolescence is a time for the last and biggest growth spurt – not just physically, but emotionally too, as you transform from being a child to become a grown up. It can be an amazing and exciting time, but it also has greater challenges and intensities of feelings that you have never likely experienced before. Talking to a supportive adult, who is not a family member or friend can be very helpful. I will not judge you and I will keep the sessions confidential, unless there is a serious safeguarding issue. I really like working with young people and you will be welcomed and treated respectfully. You may initially feel that you would be too embarrassed to talk, but in my experience this quickly passes.

Teenagers seek help when they experience:

  • Chronic anxiety, depression or shyness
  • Addiction (internet, gaming, drug/ alcohol, food)
  • Bullying
  • Eating disorder
  • Trauma
  • Low self esteem
  • Difficulty in coming to terms with major life events: divorce, grief, changing school etc
  • Self-harm
  • Self-neglect
